Facer Enhances Smartwatch Experience at CES 2023
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, smartwatch face platform Facer unveiled a series of updates and partnerships that are set to revolutionize the wearables market.
Expansion to New Platforms
Facer announced its entry into the Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) wearables market, with plans to pre-install its platform on the upcoming Reebok Kinetic smartwatch. This device will run on VitalOS with MicroEJ VEE Wear, and Facer is also partnering with LVGL to make its watch faces available on RTOS-based wearables from multiple brands, including Xiaomi.
New Capabilities for Watch Faces
Facer is also set to support AOSP-based smartwatches later this year, although no specific models have been announced yet. Additionally, the platform has partnered with Citizen to integrate the Riiiver platform, enabling Facer watch faces to connect to the internet for real-time updates on sports scores and control actions on connected devices.
Introducing Face Chime
One of the most exciting new features announced by Facer is Face Chime, which allows watch face creators to add custom hourly chimes to their designs. This feature, which is set to launch on Wear OS 6 this month, will be updated to support hundreds of watch faces.
Implications for North East India and Beyond
The developments by Facer have significant implications for the wearables market in India, including the North East region. With growing awareness and adoption of smartwatches, the availability of customizable watch faces and additional features could attract more consumers to this emerging technology.
Looking Forward
As Facer continues to innovate and expand its offerings, it remains to be seen how these updates will shape the smartwatch landscape. With the potential for AOSP-based smartwatches and partnerships with major brands like Reebok, Facer is poised to make a significant impact in the wearables market.
