Customize Your Calling Card on Android: A Game Changer for North East Users

Google has finally addressed a long-standing complaint about the Calling Card feature on Android devices, bringing it closer to parity with iOS. This development holds significant implications for users in North East India, as it offers a new level of personalization and convenience.

The Evolution of Calling Cards on Android

Launched last year, the Calling Card feature on Android allows users to customize how incoming calls from friends and family appear on their phone. However, a major drawback was the inability to control how one's own Calling Card appeared when calling others. Google is now addressing this limitation.

My Calling Card: The Missing Piece

In October, we reported that Google is developing a My Calling Card option within the Phone by Google app. This feature would allow users to create their own Calling Card, which would be visible to others when they call. We have now managed to enable this feature and provide a step-by-step guide on how it works.

Setting Up My Calling Card

  • Head to Phone by Google > Settings > Calling Cards.

  • Tap Create under the My Calling Card section.

  • Choose the Google account you want to use.

  • Pick a photo from your gallery, camera, or Google Photos.

  • Customize the font and color, just like regular Calling Cards.

  • Preview your card and choose who can see it.

  • At the final step, Google allows you to decide whether your Calling Card is visible to only your contacts or to everyone.

Implications for North East Users and Beyond

This feature will be particularly beneficial for users in North East India and other regions where maintaining a professional image is important. By allowing users to customize their Calling Card, Google is helping to bridge the gap between personal and professional communication.

Looking Forward

The ability to customize one's own Calling Card brings Android's Calling Card feature closer to parity with iOS. As more features are added, Android users can look forward to a more personalized and user-friendly communication experience.
