Analysis: Nagaland: NFHRCC demands issue of work orders for Foothills Road

Nagaland Foothills Road: A Crucial Infrastructure Project

Nagaland Foothills Road: A Pivotal Infrastructure Project

The Nagaland Foothills Road, a crucial two-lane construction project, is currently underway, funded by the SASCI loan scheme. The project's second phase is causing a stir, as the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has urged the state government to expedite the issue of work orders to the remaining PWD divisions.

Demand for Immediate Work Orders

In a recent meeting, the NFHRCC emphasized the necessity of promptly issuing work orders for the second phase of the foothills road construction. The committee believes that an open tender process should be initiated without delay to ensure the project's timely completion.

Addressing Bridge Construction Delays

In addition to the work orders, the NFHRCC also urged the PWD (Road & Bridge) to provide galvanized steel structure materials to the contractors working on five bridges under Baghty division. This action is aimed at enabling the contractors to finish the work during the current working season.

Collaborative Inspection Visit

The NFHRCC has also agreed to cooperate with the Lotha Hoho's initiative for a combined inspection visit to nine work sites at Baghty division. The visit, scheduled for January 21, 2026, will involve various stakeholders, including Lotha CSOs, media, department officials, and contractor firms.

Condolences and Acknowledgments

The NFHRCC extended its condolences to the families of two tribal leaders, Shikaho Zhimomi and Dr. Imchameran, who recently passed away. Both leaders were recognized for their visionary contributions towards the NFHRCC's goals and dreams.

Implications for North East India and Beyond

The successful completion of the Nagaland Foothills Road project will significantly improve connectivity within Nagaland and between Nagaland and other North Eastern states. This improved connectivity is expected to boost economic growth and development in the region.

Looking Ahead

As the project progresses, it is crucial that all parties involved, including the state government, contractors, and stakeholders, work together to ensure the timely completion of the project. The NFHRCC's efforts to expedite the process and address any potential issues are commendable and essential for the project's success.
