A Unique Health Initiative in Lower Siang District
In a significant stride towards improving healthcare accessibility, a health camp was organized in Likabali, Arunachal Pradesh, on January 16. The event, jointly conducted by the Lower Siang District Health Society, the 56 Infantry Division of the Indian Army, the Bogum Ao Foundation, and the North East Foundation for Health Education and Livelihood Skills, brought comprehensive health services to 685 local residents and nearby Assam dwellers.
Extensive Health Services Offered
The health camp provided a wide range of free services, including gynaecology, ENT, eye, general surgery, paediatrics, orthopaedics, medicine, dental consultations, AI-powered TB screening, dental/NCD screening, and distribution of free medicines. This extensive range of services ensured that the attendees received holistic care, addressing various health concerns within their community.
Civil-Military Collaboration and Partnership
The health camp was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, who commended the Health Department and the Army for their exemplary civil-military collaboration. He urged the National Health Mission (NHM) Arunachal Pradesh to partner with the military to conduct similar camps across other districts, thereby enabling more patients to benefit from specialist services at their doorsteps.
Ayushman Bharat and Specialist Deputations
NHM State Mission Director Marge Sora highlighted the seamless coordination and the significant Ayushman Bharat objectives achieved through specialist deputations from multiple districts, as well as the NHM's technical support. The partner organisations received tokens of appreciation during the valedictory function.
