According to the police, Devi Basumatary, a resident of Upper Lachaumiere, found an intruder, later identified as Navin Sunar, in her house around 2 pm on January 13. The miscreant intended to rob the house, and when Devi tried to lock him in, he attacked her with an iron rod, causing injuries. He then made good his escape with her sling bag containing her mobile phone and cash.
An investigation was launched, and after collecting all material evidence, the accused was identified as Navin Sunar (43). On January 16, around 4.30 pm, a special team from Pasteur Beat House, led by Officer in-charge Arki Warlang, arrested Navin from Boucher Road.
