Significant Surrender in Longding: Insurgent Abandons Violence

A Milestone Towards Peace in Longding: Insurgent Surrenders

In a significant development for the Northeast region, an active insurgent belonging to the NSCN-KYA group has surrendered, marking a significant step towards peace in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.

Intelligence-led Operation

The operation, conducted jointly by the Assam Rifles (AR), the Arunachal Pradesh Police, and local ground sources, was initiated based on credible intelligence inputs. The joint team successfully located and persuaded the insurgent to renounce violence, following hours of negotiations and motivation.

The Surrendered Insurgent

The surrendered insurgent, identified as Khapur (Rajapio) Akha alias Khawang Wangsu (38), hails from Longphong village in Longding district. He had joined the outfit in September 2025.

Implications for the Region and Beyond

This surrender is a testament to the government's ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability in the Northeast region, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh. It serves as a reminder of the potential for dialogue and reconciliation as a means to address longstanding conflicts.

A Path Forward

As the individual is taken into custody and legal proceedings begin, we hope this event will inspire others to follow suit, fostering an environment conducive to peace, development, and unity. The Northeast region, with its rich cultural diversity and natural resources, has much to gain from a peaceful and harmonious future.
