Aid for Girl Students After School Fire in East Siang District

In a heartwarming display of compassion, Seva Bharati Arunachal Pradesh (SBAP) recently distributed 50 mink blankets to the girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Pashighat, East Siang district. The aid was provided following a fire incident that occurred at the school on January 18.

Fire Incident and Damages

The fire, which occurred in one of the dormitories, was promptly controlled before the arrival of the fire tender, preventing any casualties. However, it caused extensive damage to blankets, bedding materials, and personal belongings of the students. Approximately 50 students lost their belongings either partially or completely, affecting 72 boarders in total.

SBAP's Compassionate Gesture

The blankets were distributed by SBAP member Dr Kaling Jerang, in the presence of senior SBAP worker Dipak Borde, and others. The head teacher of KGBV, Rinkoo Upadhya, and warden Nayang Nonang expressed their gratitude towards SBAP for its compassionate gesture.

Implications for North East Region

This incident underscores the importance of fire safety measures in educational institutions, especially those that provide boarding facilities. As we strive to improve the quality of education in the North East region, ensuring the safety and well-being of our students should be a top priority.

Looking Forward

In the aftermath of this incident, it is essential to review and update fire safety protocols in schools across the region. This will help prevent such incidents from occurring in the future and ensure the safety of our students. Let us continue to support our educational institutions and invest in the future of our youth.
