Development Boost for Tripura: Scindia's Visit Unveils Key Projects
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's recent visit to Tripura marked a significant stride in the northeastern state's development journey. Accompanied by Chief Minister Manik Saha, Scindia inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for eight development projects with a total outlay of Rs 365 crore.
Enhancing Road Connectivity
Five completed projects, costing Rs 270 crore, were inaugurated, focusing on improving road connectivity between villages and district centers. Key among these were the Jatanbari Mandirghat via Tirathmukh road stretch, the KA road from Erarpar to Ambassa, and the Gandacherra Raishyabari Narikel Kunja road. These enhancements will facilitate access to markets, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities.
Improved connectivity from Amarpur (Fatiksagar) to Chabimura was highlighted as a crucial intervention to support access to Tripura's heritage and tourism sites.
Electrifying Remote Areas
A solar microgrid project under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE) scheme was implemented to provide electricity in remote areas, furthering the government's commitment to electrifying the region.
Expanding All-Weather Connectivity
Scindia also laid the foundation stone for three new road projects with an estimated cost of Rs 95 crore, aimed at improving all-weather connectivity in hilly and interior regions. These projects include the Kowaifung (Panjirai) to Karbook road, the Jampui (PMGSY point) to Kangrai road, and the Burighat to Sermun-II road.
Investing in the Northeast
Speaking at a function, Scindia emphasized the Centre's substantial investment in the northeastern region, with over Rs 6.5 lakh crore invested in the last 12 years. He noted that all central ministries earmark 10 per cent of their budgets for the region.
