Community Clean-up Efforts in Ruksin, East Siang District

A Cleaner Tomorrow for Ruksin: Community Initiative Tackles Waste

In a commendable show of civic responsibility, the residents of Ngorlung and Ralung villages in Ruksin circle, East Siang district, have taken it upon themselves to clean up their surroundings. This initiative, led by the friendship group named Friends of 90s, has resulted in a noticeable improvement in the village roads and the MMJ PWD road.

Youth-led Clean-up Drive

The youths, driven by a shared sense of responsibility, spent their weekend removing garbage, littered plastic, and other non-degradable waste from their village roads. They extended their efforts to the 3-km stretch of the MMJ PWD road, cleaning both sides from the Niglok industry point to the Lower Ngorlung gate.

Government Support and Participation

The drive was not just a community effort; it also received support from government officials, including Ruksin-I ZPM Miti Dai Paron and the Elementary Education Officer John Panyang. Other government officials and female Self-Help Group (SHG) members also participated in the clean-up drive.

Relevance to North East Region and India

This initiative in Ruksin serves as a model for other communities across the North East region and India. It underscores the importance of collective action in addressing environmental issues and promoting cleanliness. As more communities adopt such initiatives, we can hope for a cleaner and healthier environment for all.

Looking Forward

The success of this clean-up drive in Ruksin is a testament to the power of community spirit. It is essential that we continue to encourage such initiatives and provide the necessary support for them to thrive. By working together, we can create a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for our communities.
