Development initiatives in the six districts of Eastern Nagaland have not been adequate, leaving the region lagging behind on several indicators. To address these concerns, the government is engaging with the Eastern Nagaland People's Organisation (ENPO) to create the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
Nagaland's Peaceful Environment
Despite the political issue, Nagaland continues to be one of the most peaceful states in India. The state recorded a cognizable crime rate of 84.9 per lakh population, the second-lowest in India, according to the National Crime Records Bureau's latest report. Rio lauded the efforts of the Nagaland Police, security forces, district administrations, and civil society organisations in maintaining peace and security.
Addressing Emerging Threats
The Nagaland Police have been strengthening their response to emerging threats, particularly cybercrime and the illegal drug trade. In the past year, they have seized over 230 kg of NDPS drugs and around one lakh units of synthetic drugs, with 135 cases registered and 218 arrests made.
