Northeastern Awardees

Several individuals from the Northeastern states have been recognized in the Padma Shri category. From Assam, Haricharan Saikia has been awarded for his contributions in art. Jogesh Deuri has been recognized for work related to agriculture and sericulture. Pokhila Lekthepi and Nuruddin Ahmed have also been honored in the arts category. The posthumous Padma Shri for Kabindra Purkayastha in public affairs is another notable mention from the region.
