Assam Cyclists Bring Home Six Medals from National Championships

In a remarkable display of talent and determination, cyclists from Assam clinched six medals, including one gold and five silver, at the 77th Senior, 54th Junior, and 40th Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championships held in Uttarakhand. This achievement underscores the growing prowess of North-Eastern athletes in national sports events.

Standout Performances

Devi Chabukdhara, a rising star from Assam, emerged as the standout performer, winning the gold medal in the 1 km individual time trial. She also added a silver medal in the 3 km women junior pursuit event. Bismita Sarmah secured a silver medal in the sub-junior girls' 5 km scratch race, while Rupjyoti Kataki showed great promise in the men's junior category, winning silver medals in both the 7.5 km scratch race and the 20 km points race.

Team Success and Future Prospects

Assam also finished with a silver medal in the women's junior team event, comprising Devi Chabukdhara, Twinkle Gogoi, and Bismita Sarmah.
