In a move to broaden global employment prospects for local youth, the Government of Assam has established a Japanese Language Training Center in Dibrugarh as part of the Chief Minister's Foreign Languages Initiative for Global Human Talent (CM-FLIGHT).

The CM-FLIGHT initiative, inaugurated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati on October 12, 2025, aims to arm Assamese youth with foreign language competence and workplace readiness skills, thereby enabling them to seize overseas job opportunities, particularly in Japan.

The newly inaugurated center in Dibrugarh, operated by the MIRAL Japanese Learning Centre in collaboration with Dibrugarh University, offers structured Japanese language training aligned with internationally recognized JFT-Basic and JLPT N4 standards. Successful completion of these certifications will qualify candidates for employment under Japan's Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) and other relevant visa programs.

The training program will concentrate on sectors experiencing high demand in Japan, such as construction, nursing care, and food services. In addition to language instruction, the course will encompass cultural orientation and workplace ethics to facilitate a smoother transition for candidates into the Japanese work environment.

Eligible candidates aged 18 to 45 years, who are permanent residents of Assam, will be chosen for the program. Each trainee will receive comprehensive language training and financial aid of up to Rs 1.5 lakh per candidate, covering training costs and post-placement support.
