ISL 2025-26: All Clubs Confirm Participation

Indian Super League (ISL) 2025-26: A New Season Awaits

The Indian Super League (ISL) has finally received a green light for its 2025-26 season, as all 14 clubs, including newcomers Inter Kashi and Odisha FC, have confirmed their participation. This announcement brings much-needed clarity to the delayed campaign, setting the stage for an exciting new season.

Club Confirmations and Financial Implications

To initiate the scheduling process, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) required clubs to submit a participation fee of 1 crore and confirm their proposed home venues by January 12, 2026. With all teams on board, the upcoming season will feature 91 matches played in a single home-and-away format. The AIFF has outlined a total proposed budget of 24.26 crore for the season, with each club contributing 1 crore towards the expenses.

Governance, Broadcast, and Commercial Partners

The AIFF has revealed its plans to initiate several parallel processes, such as sharing a draft governance framework for the Indian Super League, circulating draft Request for Proposals (RFPs) to appoint broadcast and commercial partners for the 2025-26 season, and seeking an exemption related to ACL 2 slots from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Relevance to the North East Region and India

For North East India, the participation of clubs like Odisha FC and potential newcomers from the region could mean increased visibility and opportunities for local talent. Moreover, the ISL's growing popularity across India serves as a testament to the nation's passion for football, fostering a sense of unity and shared enthusiasm.

Looking Forward

With the 2025-26 ISL season set to kick off on February 14, fans can look forward to an action-packed season filled with thrilling matches and exciting new talent. As the league continues to evolve, it will be fascinating to see how the new clubs fare against the established teams and whether the North East region will be represented more prominently in the coming years.
