Experienced Players Shine
Former champions Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy, both in their mid-30s, showcased their experience to overcome their younger opponents and secure a spot in the men's singles second round. Srikanth, who had a challenging 2025, defeated Tharun M in a close three-game match, while Prannoy overcame last year's runners-up Lee Cheuk Yiu of Hong Kong.

Malvika Bansod, hailing from Guwahati, Assam, was the only other Indian to advance to the second round. Her victory over Pai Yu Po of Chinese Taipei added a touch of North East flavor to the competition.
