Starlink's Satellite Orbit Adjustment: Implications for Space Safety

Elon Musk's SpaceX has announced plans to lower the orbits of about 4,400 Starlink satellites this year. This move, aimed at enhancing space safety, comes in response to several recent incidents involving Starlink satellites.

By lowering the satellites' orbits, Starlink expects a reduction in ballistic decay time by over 80% during solar minimum, shortening the time from several years to a few months.
