SmallRig Expands Horizons at CES 2026: A New Era of Collaborative Design

SmallRig, a renowned name in the realm of video-recording accessories, made a significant stride at CES 2026 by venturing into the audio sector. This move underscores the brand's commitment to catering to the evolving needs of content creators across the globe, including those in North East India and broader India.

SmallRig's Audio Leap: The S70 Microphone

At CES 2026, SmallRig unveiled the S70 microphone, a device designed to address common issues encountered during on-location audio recording, particularly when recording voices or instruments. The S70 was developed by analyzing real-life recording situations to understand the problems that can arise.

  • The S70 offers 9 recording presets to emulate a studio-like recording experience.
  • It is capable of balancing different types of voices or musical instruments.

The S70's development was not a solo endeavor. SmallRig collaborated with Grammy-winning sound engineer Luca Bignardi to fine-tune the microphone.

A Legacy of Collaboration: DreamRig Project

SmallRig's collaboration with content creators is not a new phenomenon. The DreamRig project, launched in 2017, is a testament to this. The project allows camera operators and social media creators to design customized camera accessories addressing specific issues or problems they encounter.

Since its inception, DreamRig has resulted in over 2,700 different accessories, many of which have been made available for purchase. Notable collaborations include the Tracking POV kit with YouTube channel Mikevisuals and the L-shaped Mount Plate Kit with LensVid.

Partnerships for Progress

In 2024, SmallRig collaborated with Gene Nagata from YouTube channel Potato Jet to create the TRIBEX tripod. The following year, it co-designed an all-in-one mobile video kit with Brandon Li, combining a cage, control module, and SSD enclosure for simplified phone videography.

These collaborations ensure that SmallRig's accessories and products remain competitive for video-makers by addressing common pain points and offering solutions tailored to their needs.

The Future of SmallRig: Embracing the Audio Market

By co-designing products with users, SmallRig can offer devices and solutions that don't yet exist on the market. The brand's push into the audio recording market promises to expand this prowess into a new kind of vital recording tool, designed with the user in mind.

As SmallRig continues to innovate and collaborate, it will undoubtedly shape the future of content creation in North East India and beyond, offering solutions that cater to the evolving needs of creators.
