The kits, designed for four students to work together under teacher oversight, cover topics such as coding, looping code, triggering events, and sequences, if/then conditionals, and more.

Addressing the Gap in AI Education

Lego Education's initiative stems from a study showing that teachers often lack the resources to teach AI and related subjects effectively. The study revealed that half of teachers globally find current resources leave students bored, and nearly half believe that computer science isn't relatable and doesn't connect to students' interests or day-to-day lives.

Given children's familiarity with Lego and Lego Education's decades of experience in creating educational courses, this move seems a logical step in the right direction.

While AI is a significant part of the new courses, they are more about computer science education that also introduces concepts of AI rather than building chatbots.

Lego has set several red lines for the introduction of AI. For instance, no data can ever go across the internet, ensuring all data processing happens locally on devices. This is a challenging feat, given the nature of AI.

The courses also ensure that they are teacher-friendly, providing all necessary materials for teachers to handle the lessons effectively.
