Analysis: Gemini app rolls out feature for faster answers

Google's Answer Now Feature in Gemini App: Implications for Quick Responses

Google's Answer Now Feature in Gemini App: Implications for Quick Responses

In a move to expedite responses from its AI-powered chatbot, Google has introduced a new feature called Answer Now in the Gemini app. This update, now available for both free and paid users on Android, iOS, and the web, promises quicker answers to general questions.

Accelerating AI Responses with Answer Now

The Answer Now feature, introduced within the Gemini 3 Pro and Thinking/Flash models, allows users to bypass in-depth thinking for quicker responses. This option does not appear in the Fast model at this time, and it is unclear if it will be added in the future.

Usage Limits for AI Pro and Thinking

In addition to the Answer Now feature, Google has also adjusted the usage limits for both Thinking and Pro. AI Pro users will now receive 300 Thinking prompts and 100 Pro prompts daily, while AI Ultra users will have access to 1,500 Thinking prompts and 500 Pro prompts daily. These changes apply to free users as well, who are now categorized as having "Basic access" for both Thinking and Pro.

The Role of Personal Intelligence

The introduction of Answer Now comes shortly after Google released the Personal Intelligence feature, which allows the chatbot to customize responses based on the user's Google ecosystem data (Gmail, Photos, Search/YouTube history). This feature is optional and can be managed by users, who can choose which apps to share data with.

Implications for North East India and Beyond

The Answer Now feature's rollout has implications for users across India, including those in the North East region. Faster, more efficient responses from AI-powered chatbots can streamline communication and improve productivity in various sectors, such as customer service, education, and healthcare.

Reflections and Future Prospects

As AI continues to evolve, we can expect to see more features like Answer Now that aim to make interactions with AI more intuitive and efficient. This update represents Google's commitment to improving the user experience and staying competitive in the AI market.
