Why Mars Exploration Matters for North East India and Beyond

After the water evaporated, the minerals hardened, and eons later, wind and sandblasting exposed the ridges that Curiosity is currently exploring.

The image, taken from the floor of Gale Crater, also reveals the rover's wheel tracks leading from Valle de la Luna, a site where Curiosity drilled for a rock sample last year. The crater's rim, around 25 miles (40 kilometers) away, is visible in the background.

A Robust Design and Engineering Marvel

Initially designed to last less than two years, Curiosity's continued operation is a testament to its robust design and NASA's engineering prowess.
